- The Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino recently completed the renovation of its open-air lobby and adjacent lobby bar. The lobby now radiates a cool Caribbean-modern vibe with three striking, stainless-steel chandeliers by Alger Lighting complementing the traditional ceiling of carved teak and polished beams. A newly designed front desk with gleaming Calcutta marble, glass tile and Maya Romanoff "mother-of-pearl" wall-coverings shaded by ornately-carved screens, welcomes the guests. The lobby also boasts over-sized potted palms and billowing white-fabric accents, delicate chaise lounges by Della Robbia and svelte rattan armchairs by Mark David. The adjacent Alfresco Lobby Bar overlooks the renowned Palm Beach with canopied, stainless-steel day-beds and colorful blown-glass candle holders. The free-standing bar at center stage has been refinished with Italian Bottochino marble and limestone. Other areas being transformed by the resort's ongoing $20 million renovation include all 336 guestrooms (set for completion May 2007), 24 suites, including four specialty suites, and the chic Palms Restaurant and Bar (all debuting summer 2007). - The Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino recently introduced its 4th commemorative gaming chip, showcasing the island's most typical animal: the iguana. Stellaris Casino started with the introduction of a unique line of commemorative gaming chips over a year ago. The reason behind the launch of these unique chips was to give visitors to the Casino the opportunity to take a little piece of Aruba home. Former chips carry images of the famous fofoti (divi divi) tree, Aruba's Carnival and the Natural Bridge, once Aruba's most famous landmark that collapsed in the fall of 2005. The new "Iguana" gaming chip -as well as the other 3 collectors? items- is now available at the Stellaris Casino Cage. Airport, Airlines, & Cruiseships- Royal Caribbean International and the Aruba Government recently signed a MOU to develop the existing port area. Once the current container terminal has moved to a new location at Barcadera, the area will be completely transformed. Further information will be available once the definite agreement is signed.

Arts & Culture- Mask n' Play is the name of the new exposition at the Insight Art Gallery. The exposition includes work from 23 different contemporary artists and will be shown until Monday, April 30th. Insight Art Gallery is located in Paradera Park 215 with opening hours from Monday through Friday from 09:30 hrs until 12:00 hrs and from 14:30 hrs til 17:00 hrs. General- Arubus N.V. recently announced the new rates for the public transportation buses, starting April 1st 2007. The new rates are as follows:
One way: Afls. 2,25 ($1.30); Retour: Afls. 4.00 ($2.30) Yellow ticket;
Ticket Booklets: Afls. 40 (Green book) and School Booklets: Afls. 56,25.
- The Department of Infrastructure & Planning (DIP) will start placing new buoys at the Eagle Beach and at several other locations. The installation of the new buoys represents a new beginning in coastal zone management. The DIP, heading this project, will be working closely with the Department of Navigation (Directie Scheepvaart), the Department of Legislation (Directie Wetgeving), Department of Public Works (DOW), the Judicial Department, the Police Department, the Visibility Team Aruba and the Coastal Zone Management Aruba (CZM) in order to implement the new policy. The Sea Solution Company will be in charge of placing the new buoys starting March 30th 2007.
- The Renaissance Mall recently welcomed additional exclusive brand name stores such as the Chopard Boutique, Louis Vuitton and Salvatorre Feragamo. Mentioned stores join Gucci, Furla, Lacoste, L'Occitane en Provence, Polo Ralph Lauren, Gimmick and Agatha as well as other boutiques which make the Aruban shopping experience even better.
- At the AHATA General Assembly, Stephen K. Tipsword was introduced as AHATA's new Senior Director of Marketing. Tipsword, with extensive experience in the Caribbean market, is replacing Scott Wiggins. AHATA also introduced Ewald Biemans as the new Chairman of the Board of the AHATA. Biemans has been a behind the scenes top-contributing member to the private sector for the last 35 years and is owner/manager of the boutique hotel Bucuti Beach Resort & Tara Suites.
- Aruba Aloe Balm N.V. products will soon available in the USA! To meet the growing demand, two kiosks will be opened in the Atrium Mall in Chestnut Hill, Boston in June 2007 and the other will open in South Shore Plaza in Braintree, Massachusetts September 2007. - It is Bubi (terns) time! From March to August, Aruba is home to the bubi's. Four of the species that come to Aruba are regional and on the endangered species list. Aruba houses about 20% of the known population of one, the Cayenne (Sterna Sandivicensis Eurygnatha). Their breeding areas are on the reefs in San Nicolas, Savaneta, Barcadera, some of the mangrove areas, and around the Malmok and behind the lighthouse areas.
