ARUBANS IN THE NEWS

  • Devah Leenheer, currently enrolled at the Lindenwood University in the US and captain of the Lindenwood University synchronized swimming team, recently placed first in solo synchronized swimming and in duet with her swimming partner Mikayla Francese. The Lindewoon Lions placed 2 overall at the end of the competition. Devah currently forms part of the Lindenwood University but still represents Aruba during international competition.

    * Sand on Demand for Meeting Attendees & Business Travelers.  Meeting attendees and business travelers who don’t get enough time on the beach, can now request personal under-the-conference table sand boxes, which will be delivered to the resort’s meeting rooms or guest rooms, providing a touch point for attendees to feel the white sand of Aruban beaches, while attending required meetings or working in their rooms.   • Aruba will soon be home to the five star luxury Ritz Carlton Aruba Resort & Spa. The hotel will be built north of the Marriott Resort on Hadicurari Beach and will consist of 320 rooms of high quality design consistent with the standards of Ritz Carlton. The construction of the five star hotel property is priced at US$200 million.

  • The Renaissance Aruba Resort recently launched its new website www.shoprenaissancearuba.com. The beautiful new website is a one-stop information center for the Renaissance Mall which houses exclusive brand stores, souvenir shops, cozy eateries and more. 

  • The newly renovated Okeanos Spa at the Renaissance Aruba Resort offers unique island treatments and a chic modern space.   • The Radisson Resort Aruba, Casino & Spa introduced a host of new services to their guests.  They are teaming up with Unique Water Sports to offer scuba diving, snorkeling and in-pool scuba introduction classes, among other options. The Radisson activities desk also arranges nature hikes, jeep-rides and horseback tours of the park and Entire Island. Families staying at the Radisson Aruba Resort receive preferred tee times at Tierra del Sol. Victor, the resort’s own bird expert and caretaker will introduce guests to the property’s resident parrots. Each day, Family Fun Games are organized at the Kids Club, including water balloon volleyball, board game tournaments and family Wii videogame challenges. For a half-day fee of $25 per child ages 5-12; parents can enroll their children in the Radisson Aruba Kids program for supervised fun without mom or dad which includes lots of activities and special features including watching movies under the stars. AIRPORT, AIRLINES & CRUISES

  • Martinair recently announced daily flights to Aruba out of Schiphol, Amsterdam starting March 29th.  They will use a Boeing 767 with 110 seats in the comfort class and 164 seats in economy class.

  • Arkefly will be adding an extra flight to Aruba on Sundays starting March 29th increasing the number of weekly flights to four, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and now Sunday.  For more information please visit www.arkefly.com.

  • Moby Dick’s Seafood Restaurant recently opened at the Paseo Herencia Mall.  With its unique interior featuring artwork, amazing glass carvings, gigantic fountains with water running from ceiling to floor along with multicolor fibre optic cables, Moby Dick is truly a great place to visit. It seats 250 guests on two separate levels and offers an impressive wine list.   • Aruba celebrates its National Anthem & Flag Day every March 18th and this year, the Department of National Archives will be holding its annual March 18th Cultural festivities.   • April is Jazz Appreciation Month and  Carlos Bislip & friends and other local Jazz bands aim to bring Jazz music closer to the general public and schools during April.
